Rules for Participation Cano Mocs and Docs (CMD) - the legal stuff.

1. Dates and Venue 
Entries open on the 1st of April 2018 and films must be submitted by the 20th of September 2018. Films selected will be shown on the 13th of Oct 2018. Deadlines are firm so please ensure your film is posted by required dates. The venue for the festival will be at The Age of Fishes Museum, Corner of Gaskill St and Ferguson St, Canowindra NSW 2804.

2. Submission Fee 
All submissions for CMD are to be paid by credit card or debit card. The submission fee is non-refundable and in US dollars. Each entry must include your name and email address, or it will be deemed invalid.

a. Over 18 years of age - $20USD for a documentary or mockumentary 
b. 12-17 years of Age - $10USD for a documentary or mockumentary 
c. 0-11 years of age $5USD for a documentary or mockumentary

While you may enter the Competition more than once, you cannot win more than one prize. You must submit a properly completed entry form each time you wish to enter the Competition. CMD assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.

3. Formats 
For the selection process a digital film must be submitted via https://filmfreeway.com/CanoMocsandDocs2804-1

FilmFreeway accepts all major video formats in full quality HD up to 10 GB. They transcode videos for playback compatibility and performance and recommend that you use settings close to their output settings:

Maximum video bitrate: 2200 Kbps, H.264, mp4 
Audio: 128 Kbps, AAC, 2 channel stereo 
Aspect ratio preserved; maximum video height of 720 pixels

4. Subtitles 
Any foreign language films must have english subtitles.

​

5. Selection 
The Category award winning entries will be selected by a festival jury of seven people and audience votes. Category winners are announced on the 1st October 2018.

6. Entry Returns 
We do not return submission entries.

​

7. Publicity 
We reserve the right to use extracts from submissions for festival publicity and marketing purposes.

​

8. Categories 

Films for the competition will be in three categories and the following times must include all titles and credits: 
a. Over 18 years of age - 8 minutes for a documentary or mockumentary 
b. 12-17 years of Age - 4 minutes for a documentary or mockumentary 
c. 0-11 years of age 2 minutes for a documentary or mockumentary

9. Selection of Films 
CMD has absolute discretion to decide to accept a submission which meets the Criteria, but is not obliged to screen any particular Film at the Festival even if the Film meets the Criteria. CMD reserves the right to change a decision to screen a Film at its discretion. 
Submissions are reviewed and selected under the following criteria: 

Strength of story 
Quality of narrative and production values 
Independent nature of the production

a. The Submission is received by the due date of 20th September 2018 
b. Production of the Film was not completed prior to 1st January 2018; 
c. The Film has never been, and will not be shown publically before the 13th of October 2018.

10. Awards 
The circumstance COULD POSSIBLY arise where an award would not be given if no film was deemed outstanding in a category. Should your film win any award, you are authorized and/or empowered by all parties legally representing this entry to receive all cash prizes and awards and to distribute them appropriately.

Best Documentary - over 18 years of Age 
Best Documentary - 12 - 17 years of Age 
Best Documentary - 0 -11 years of Age

Best Mockumentary - over 18 years of Age 
Best Mockumentary - 12 - 17 years of Age 
Best Mockumentary - 0 -11 years of Age

The Julian Leather’s Shearer’s award for the best overall film of any Category.

11. Screenings 
CMD Film Festival does not offer remuneration for screenings at the festival.

By submitting your original film to CMD you warrant that you have the authority to do so and there are no disputes regarding the ownership of the submission and that you hold the appropriate rights and authorisations to use of image, sound, performance and the reproduction of said images and sound.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the CMD Film Festival, it's board, judges, sponsors and partners, individually and / or collectively, from all claims and demands, losses, injury,damages, costs and liabilities and expenses (including legal fees), whether direct or consequential, relating to any films submitted to this festival, arising out of or in connection with any and all claims by third parties, whether or not groundless, based on any film submitted to CMD Film Festival.

You have obtained all necessary clearances in respect to the Film and the Film does not infringe the rights (including without limitation copyright) of any third party. You also assert that there are no assigned rights, agreements, distribution agreements, production deals or any arrangements whatsoever attached to this work that would in any way interfere with the showing or screening of this film to the public within the terms of the CMD Film Festival and that the Festival is also not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work.

You also warrant the submitted material does not defame or invade the rights of any person living or dead and fully indemnify the Festival against any claim made for such violations of law. If your film is selected for screening at CMD you grant CMD the right to screen your film at the Festival.
